SHERMAN

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

As the founder and CEO of SHERMAN MEDICAL MARKETING GROUP (SMMG), I earned my bachelor degree from Temple University – Fox School of Business and Management where I majored in Business Administration with a minor concentration in Finance. I began my career at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange as an Options Trader before developing a career in medical marketing.

I take a great pride in being one of only 12 women to hold a seat as both a trader on the Foreign Exchange and in the Stock Options. Both seats were earned within eight months of joining the brokerage firm.

Most recently, I held the position as VP Sales and Marketing at American Medical Communications, with prestigious clients that included CHEST Journal, The Mayo Clinic, American Journal of Medicine and ASH Clinical News. My eight years in this position included managing and overseeing
a team of fifteen sales reps and all aspects of publishing.

My very first role in the medical marketing field was Associate Publisher on ADVANCE for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, where I earned several sales awards for best performance and was recognized for the tremendous growth of these two publications. I gained valuable experience communicating with cross-functional teams that included editors, art and digital marketing professionals.

Five years into my medical publishing career, I won the NEXUS Sales Rep of the Year award by the Association of Medical Media (AMM) in 2002. Having served as a committee member since 2003, I chaired the committee at AMM for its annual industry events. SMMG is a proud member of AMM and today I serve on its board. The process to have a seat on the board includes being voted in. Also, in March 2018 I participated as one of four panel members made up of previous winners of the NEXUS award in a monthly education session on the topic of navigating changes in the industry’s marketing landscape. Keeping in great company, the panel consisted of previous winners from NEJM, JAMA, UBM, and myself. I enjoy giving my time to mentor young professionals, including guidance on how to choose the right career path. Sharing knowledge and wisdom on past experiences is my way of giving back.
